Central Washington University (CWU) is a state university that offers a liberal arts education as well as preparation for specific professions. The university campus, on the edge of downtown Ellensburg, is spacious, modern, and beautifully landscaped. About 7000 students attend the university. There are more than 100 majors and eight preprofessional programs at the undergraduate level
Central Washington University English as Second Language Program is Member of American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP) and offers courses on in: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Grammar, and Academic Skills and a number of professional courses such as Business, Literature, Drama, Computers, Film-making, and Volunteering

Ellensburg:
Ellensburg is home to Central Washington University, the University English as a Second Language Program, the Ellensburg Rodeo, and about 13,000 residents.
Whether you arrive by Greyhound Bus, plane, car, van, or taxi, you will enjoy the western hospitality, the clean air, and the beautiful historic downtown area.
The Yakima River runs through the edge of town. You can visit the river at Irene Rinehart Park, a popular "hang-out" during the summer. Ellensburg is about 100 miles east of Seattle and about 27 miles west of the Columbia River.
In the summer each year, the Whiskey Dick Triathlon starts in the Columbia River at Vantage, the bikers then ride to Kittitas before running the seven miles to Ellensburg.
CWU:
Many students live in residence halls (dormitories)which are located close to the classroom buildings. There is a large library, many computer labs on campus, and recreational facilities such as a games room, tennis courts, basketball courts, a weight room, and an indoor swimming pool which UESL students are welcometo use. The CWU mascot is the wildcat. You can attend CWU football, basketball and baseball games, as well as other sporting events and cheer, "Go Wildcats!" Central Washington University is also home to the world famous chimp, Washoe, and her family. They are housed at the Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute.
