STUDENT GRANT
Federal Pell Grant
This is a federal student grant. Apply for this grant annually, using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This grant is available year round, but students should plan on the application process of the grant taking two to three months to complete. Applying online, applying with accurate information, and being aware of the requirements of your school can save you a lot of time to find a student grant.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
This is a campus-based student grant. This means the grant is jointly funded by the federal government and the school and/or state. Individual campuses decide how to allocate these student grants within the bounds of broad federal guidelines. Because funds are limited, the earliest applicants have the best chance to receive these funds of the grant. All student grant applicants must complete the FAFSA.
Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP)
This is also a campus-based student grant. Your campus, with student grant funds from the State of Utah, matches federal student grant funds and allocates these grants that meet federally defined guidelines. The maximum award is $2,500. For eligibility requirements and application materials, please contact the school financial aid office. Again, student grant funds are limited, so apply early. All grant applicants must complete the FAFSA. Utah schools that offer LEAP grants.
Student grants provide funds to an individual, a group of individuals, or an organization, usually for a specific project. Monetary grants are given to assist in paying for education, or research and development projects. There are many student loan and grants. In some cases, student grant awards do not require repayment.
