Student Services
One of the great things about being a student is the fact that there are so many people willing to help you and provide student services. It could be anything from your family buying you books, local shops giving you discount or your parents taking you on holiday to the country whose language you’re learning (a stay in one of the glamorous hoteles Algarve certainly provides motivation for learning a challenging language like Portuguese!). They may not be obvious factors on helping you on your way to a degree but they certainly make life easier (especially as though incredibly fun, your student years are unlikely to be your easiest financial years!).
It is most certainly worth researching the student services provided by the university itself too. Many times they will have career education guides, counsellors and tutors available should your studies be presenting themselves as problematic. Furthermore, 24 hour libraries and extra-long book loan are other student services designed to make the path to qualification as smooth as is possible.
Whether it’s the student holiday discounts you take advantage of (such as the German Studententarife & Studentenrabatte in exciting student cities such as Berlin) or something a little more frivolous such as a night at a student disco, remember that the student services are designed with you in mind and it is you who can help mould them to be most beneficial to both you and your study companions – never hesitate in suggesting your ideas to your student representative, as someone who is studying, you will know best what student services you need!
